What is HOSA?
HOSA is a national organization in which students can compete in healthcare-related events at the state and national level. Students encouraged in the health sciences are highly encouraged to join HOSA. The main event that all HOSA members participate in is the State Leadership Conference in the spring; students with outstanding performance in their competitive event will be invited to attend the National Leadership Conference in June. MSJ HOSA Officer Team
President: Kate Lin
Kate Lin loves learning new things! She is especially interested in biology/medicine, languages, reading/writing, and politics. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching and helping others. She has competed and placed in HOSA Bowl for MSJ since freshman year and Pathophysiology Knowledge Test since sophomore year. She also taught the HOSA JUMP program at Hopkins her sophomore year. This year she hopes to expand the MSJ HOSA chapter even more and create a tight knit community for students interested in healthcare by providing more resources and opportunities in the form of hands on learning and observation of real world applications.
Vice President: Rishab Ramapriyan
Rishab Ramapriyan is a Senior at Mission San Jose High School. He has been involved with his local HOSA chapter since Freshman year. Rishab has attended the 2014 and 2015 California HOSA State Leadership Conferences, as well as the 2014 National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Rishab is the 2014 National Champion in Researched Persuasive Speaking and a State Finalist in the 2015 Medical Law and Ethics Knowledge test. Outside of HOSA, Rishab is involved in Boy Scouts, debate, Model United Nations. Additionally, Rishab serves as one of the Sports Editors for The Smoke Signal, after serving as a staff writer last year. During his free time, Rishab enjoys biking, playing the violin, and hiking. Rishab is excited to work with MSJ HOSA members next year as Director of Competitive Events, hoping to aid members in their pursuit of competitive excellence.
Secretary: Jayashri Viswanathan
Jayashri is a senior at MSJ. She has been a member of HOSA since her sophomore year, competing in events such as Healthy Lifestyle, Medical Terminology, and Forensic Medicine. She went to NLC for Healthy Lifestyle, and was a finalist for Forensic Medicine and Medical Terminology. Jayashri's favorite sport is tennis, and is the captain for the MSJ Girls' Tennis Team. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her friends and watching sports. She is eager to work with other HOSA members on her journey to becoming a healthcare professional.
Treasurer: Erin Tan
Erin Tan is a senior at Mission San Jose High School. She competed in Health Career Display in both her freshman and sophomore year. Last year, Erin and her partner were state finalists in the Forensic Medicine event. Outside of HOSA, she enjoys being an active member of Leadership 2 and the MSJ Girls Soccer team and volunteering with the Stanford Blood Center.
Director of Competitive Events: Lahari Vuppaladhadiam
Lahari Vuppaladhadiam is a junior at Mission San Jose High School. She has been in HOSA since her freshman year and has participated in Researched Persuasive Speaking and Pathophysiology both years. She was a State Finalist for Researched Persuasive Speaking in 2015 and for Pathophysiology in 2016. Outside of HOSA, she is also a member of the MSJ Girls Tennis team and an officer of the Interact Club and MSJ Girl Up. Her other interests include volunteering, writing, and traveling. Lahari hopes to be in the healthcare field one day and maybe write a book by then!

Sonia Sakleshpur is a junior at mission San Jose high school. She has been a part of HOSA since her Freshman year. She has competed in researched persuasive speaking for two years, and finaled at SLC her freshman year. Outside of HOSA, Sonia is an officer of Girl Up and competes in National History Day. Her interests include biology, singing, painting, and having fun with friends. She loves watching The Office and Parks and Rec. Sonia is excited to work with the members of MSJ HOSA this year.

Minnie is an upcoming junior at Mission San Jose High School. She has recently completed her first year with HOSA and achieved first place with her team in the event HOSA Bowl. In previous years, she has participated and medaled in Science Olympiad and currently is involved in dance and Track and Field, In her free time, she enjoys binge-watching Sherlock and broadening her variety of book genres.
Co-Historian: Ishil Puri
Ishil is a Sophomore at Mission San Jose High School. He loves to program games and make websites in his free time. He is an affable, approachable character. He has been involved with HOSA and held officer positions since 7th grade. He placed 1st and 2nd place in the Health Career Display event at SLCs. This year, his goal is to keep the Chapter organized, create new ideas, and form a cohesive environment in which all the members will unite to take this Chapter to a new level.
